Krypton, M-Wave, ATTAQ and OT2
Krypton
Krypton is the entry-level to club blade, designed for club programs, beginners moving up from rental blades, and skaters who train a few times a week and want a predictable sharpen, without jumping straight to a powder-metal race blade. Standard cups are included. Available in 15.5", 16" and 16.5".
M-Wave
M-Wave is the most widely used Skate-Tec blade, from club to higher levels. You choose Flex or Firm. Cups are not included and are sold separately in +0, +2 and +4 heights. Available in 17", 17.5" and 18".
ATTAQ
ATTAQ ships without cups and mounts on M-Wave cups. A 0 cup on ATTAQ matches a 0 cup on M-Wave Flex. It comes in Flex stiffness only. Available in 17", 17.5" and 18".
OT2
OT2 mounts on a bridge instead of four cups. The boot stays mounted on 165 mm holes. Choose the blade only, or a package with the matching Otto bridge. The package already includes the bridge, so there’s no need to buy it separately. The blade-only option does not include a bridge. Available in 17", 17.5" and 18".
Mounting
Krypton mounts with the included cups. M-Wave and ATTAQ use the Skate-Tec cup set, which fits both. There is also a bridge for M-Wave and ATTAQ, with 165 mm holes. The Otto bridge belongs with OT2 and replaces four cups, also with 165 mm mounting in the boot.
Frequently asked questions about short track blades
Which short track blade suits a beginner?
The Skate-Tec Krypton. It is the blade for entry and club level, made of durable 12C27 chrome steel in an aluminium tube, with standard cups included. You get a real edge while you develop your technique, without jumping straight to a powder-metal race blade. Available in 15.5", 16" and 16.5".
ATTAQ or M-Wave?
Both are blades for advanced, competitive skaters. In our experience so far, every skater who can skate an M-Wave can also skate an ATTAQ. The feedback we get is that the ATTAQ gives a bit more feel and more choice in the lines you take through the corners.
Do the blades come with cups?
Only the Krypton. For M-Wave and ATTAQ you use the Skate-Tec cups set, which fits both. The OT2 uses the Otto bridge instead of cups; the bridge is included in the package, not with the blade only.
Cups or a bridge: what is the difference?
A bridge replaces the separate cups with one rigid unit. The M-Wave and ATTAQ bridge locks the spacing and reduces twist, with 165 mm boot mounts. The Otto bridge belongs to the OT2 and replaces four cups with a rigid bridge spanning 215 mm, also on 165 mm mounts.
Are the blades rockered when they arrive?
No. Our blades ship factory pre-bent but are not rockered. With the STE rockering service you have the rocker profile of your choice set before you go on the ice. You choose the profile when you order.
